Kimbap is the cheapest and convenient food you can have in South Korea, like a sandwich in Western food. The essence of Sandwich or Kimbap lies in they can conveniently be carried.
However Kimbap for me, I prefer eating at a restaurant than taking out. Here is the reason. I can have Kimbap with Kimchi and Jang-Kuk(miso or soy-based soup). With this combination, I can only say I actually eat Kimbap like a croissant with coffee. Depending on Kimbap restaurants, the veggie side dish and soup can include, but in most cases, just one side dish, Danmooji(pickled daikon) can be in a package. I don’t like them.
Here is one more condition. The Kimchi should be made from S.Korea. These days, Kimchi from china is swearing over the country, especially at kimbap restaurants. I don’t want to say Kimchi from china tastes terrible, but they’re too banal.
In the evening, I ate Kimbap for the first time in a while, I don’t remember the taste of the Kimbap, but I do remember the taste of Kimchi. They must be a homemade ones.
